Softball Update: Wildcats 2-1 On New Season
The Central Clarion Wildcats are 2-1 so far in 2026.
On Thursday, March 26 they downed the A-C Valley/Union Falcon Knights 14-3 in six innings, at Heindle Field in DuBois.
The Kaylee Smith went 1-2, for the Wildcats, hitting a homer and picked up the win, picking up 15 strikeouts.
Ashlyn Clark was 2-2, both doubles and drove in a pair of runs.
On Friday, March 28th at Clarion-Limestone Sports Complex, Central Clarion downed the Lakeview Sailors 11-9.
The Wildcats entered the game with nine players and one player had to leave the game after the top of the first. They chose to play with the minimum eight players.
Central Clarion scored two runs in the first inning. Neither team scored in the second, but Lakeview plated five runs in the top of the third, with the Wildcats answering with two runs in the bottom of the inning – 5-4, Sailors.
A 3-2 Wildcat edge in the fourth knotted things up at 7-all. Central Clarion went up 8-7 with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
The Sailors scored a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, with the Wildcats answering with two in their half of the inning, giving Central Clarion an 11-9 lead. Lakeview failed to score in the seventh to set the final.
Kaylee Smith singled and tripled and scored three runs for the Wildcats. Megan Powell had a pair of singles and scored three runs. Brook Meals doubled, singled and scored twice.
Lexi O’Brien had three singles and scored three runs. Karlee Mahle doubled and scored a run. Braelyn Defranco singled and scored a run, and was the winning pitcher.
Jocelyn Galan and Sydney Youngman each singled.
On Tuesday, March 31st, the homestanding Wildcats fell to Brookville 15-4 in five innings.
Kaylee Smith had a single, a double, a runscored and an RBI for Central Clarion.
