Baseball: Bobcats Down Chucks
The Clarion Area Bobcats downed the homestanding Punxsutawney Chucks 4-3, in a non-conference baseball matchup last night (Thursday, May 7th).
The Cats put on run across in the top of the first inning, while holding Punxy off the board in the bottom of the frame.
Neither team scored in the second. The Bobcats moved their lead to 3-0, with two runs in the top of the third, but the Chucks answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning, to knot the score at 3-all.
Clarion scored the last run in the game in the fifth, to seal the 4-3 win.
Wyatt Watterson had 2 hits, including a double, for the Bobcats, while scoring twice and driving in a run. Dylan Smail doubled and scored a run. Ethan Rex had 1 hit, scored 1 run and had an RBI. Billy Kahle singled and drove in a run.
Parker Miller had 2 hits and Hayden Weber had a double. Carter Hindman and Gabe Anderson each singled.
Miller and Hindman combined on the mound for the win.
The Bobcats will travel to Stern Field in DuBoise tonight (Friday, May 8th) for their Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference playoff opener against Redbank Valley. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00p.m.
