The Clarion Area Bobcats downed the Redbank Valley Bulldogs 5-2 in the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Championship Game at Stern Field in DuBois, on Friday, May 8th.

This is the Bobcats second straight title, having beaten Moniteau 6-5 last season.

Neither team was able to score in the first inning.

Redbank held Clarion off the board in the top of the second and scored their two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Hayden Weber had a double and scored a run for the Bobcats. Dylan Smail had a pair of singles and scored a run.

Brock George and Grant Shoemaker scored Redbank’s runs.

Bobcats Head Coach Rob Jewett shared his thoughts. “I am really proud of how this team keeps battling and never quits. We played a really good Redbank team and fought to the final out.

“It’s pretty cool to have another come from behind win in back to back KSAC Championship games.

Bobcats acknowledging their fans after the trophy ceremony

“This game should help with our mental approach to the playoffs, knowing we can compete with anyone.

“We still have a lot of work to do, more games to play, but I think the team is in a good place right now. We just need to keep working hard, and take it into the playoffs.”
