Bobcat Track Squads Fall To Brookville (04/01/16)

The Clarion Area Bobcat Boys and Girls Track Teams traveled to Brookville, on Wednesday (March 30th). The Raiders won both meets, posting a 112-38 victory in the boys’ meet and a 98-50 win in the girls’ meet.

Boys

Adam Bettwy and Josh Kriebel were double winners. Bettwy took first in the 1600 (4:56.7) and 3200 (10:52.58), qualifying for districts in both. Kriebel won the 100 high hurdles (15.75) and the long jump (18-10). His time in the hurdles qualified for districts. He also finished third in the 100.

The 4×100 relay team, consisting of Jake Burns,  Archer Mills, Kyle Patterson and Brendon Zerfoss, finished behind Brookville, but still had a district qualifying time of 47.91.

Getting second place finishes were: Kyle Bettwy in the 800 (2:31.95), Marshall Powers in the 400 (55.76), Jimmy Smathers in the Javelin (135-2) and Brendan Zerfoss in the 100 (12.02) and 200 (24.59). Nick Cherico had two third place finishes, in the shot put (33-9.5) and the discus (88.7).

Girls

Elsa Tovar was a double winner, taking the shot put (25-5) and discus (83-8). Gabby Weaver won the 100 high hurdles (18.01) and finished second in the 300 hurdles (52.33), qualifying for districts in both. Forest Mills also took a first place, with a district qualifying time in the 800 (2:37.59).

Wendy Beveridge took first place in the long jump (14-0) and second in the 400 (1:10.98). Meredith Burkhart took first in the javelin (94-5) and third in the shot put (24-5.5). Gloria Kroh finished second in the 100 hurdles (19.24) and in the triple jump (29-3).Claire Saylor finished second in the shot put (25-3) and third in the discus (63-4).

Also getting thirds for the Lady Cats were, Katie Craig in the high jump (3-10), Dorothy Kalinowski in the javelin (77-1) and Hannah Phillips in the triple jump (28-3).
