Bobcats Capture Second Place In District Nine AA Junior High Wrestling Championships (02/16/14)

(By Coach Lee Weber)

The Junior High Wrestling Bobcats improved one position from last year, by placing 2nd in the District Nine AA Team Competition at Brockway, on Saturday, February 15th.  Even though we did not have a District Champion, out of our 14 wrestlers, 12 of them placed in the top four. It was a strong team effort by all of our wrestlers. The team also ended the dual meet season by going 9-1.

Earning 2nd place finishes were Frankie Weber (almost pulling off a major upset by losing a close 3-2 score), Sterling Conner (lost by fall to the #1 seed), Dakota Stormer (was beating the #1 seed for most of the match, before losing by injury forfeit, after being caught in a head lock), and Tyler Finefrock (lost by fall to a more experience wrestler).

Coming all the way back to take 3rd place were Colton Rapp (Controlled his opponent and won by fall), Josh Kriebel (Won 8-4 after beating an opponent he lost to twice this year), and Kevin Bradley (He showed he wanted to win his last Junior High match by pulling out a tough overtime match).

Login Dehner, Riley Slagle, Ryley McMaster, Greg Duncan, and Karlin Hiles all had tough, close losses in their final bout to place 4th. Clayton Adams and Seth Nellis, both wrestling at the Junior High level for the first time, wrestled with a lot of heart and determination.
