Bobcats Victorious At East Forest (02/11/14)

In a Monday night game at Marienville, the Clarion Boys Basketball Team defeated East Forest 75-50.

The Bobcats were led by three players in double figures. Taylor Smith, who led all scorers, had 21 points, including three 3-pointers, to go along with 3 steals and four assists. Antonio Troese was right behind with 20 points, including two treys. Troese also had 6 steals and six rebounds. Ellis Painter had 14 points, 6 assists and six steals.

The Bobcats led 22-9 after one period and pushed their lead to 46-22 at the half. The Bears came on strong in the third period, outscoring the Cats 18-13, to make the score Clarion 59 – East Forest 40, heading into the fourth period. A 16-10, Clarion advantage, in the final stanza, set the final.

Also contributing on the scoreboard, for the Cats, were Steven Smathers, who had 5 points, while also collecting 5 boards, Levi Barger, with 5 points, Brendan Miller, with 4 and Cody Hearst, Damien Cherico and Matt Verne with two apiece. Hearst also had seven rebounds.

Rob Harriger led the Bears, with 20 points, including four 3-pointers and James Renton followed with sixteen.

The Bobcat JVs won their game 50-25. The Bobcats led 22-10, after one period, 35-16 at the half and 43-22 after three periods of play.

Thomas Plummer led the Bobcat JVs with 11 points, followed by Zach Hill, with 7 and Michael Bartley, with six. Ryan Anthony had 5 points, Derek Lauer, Luke Nellis and Nadir Lynch each had 4, while Mark Liu, Reed Anthony and Ty Burford each contributed two points.

Colin Settnek and Brandon Dittman led the Bear JVs with 8 points apiece.

The Bobcats will travel to Oil City, tonight (Tuesday, February 11), to face the Venango Catholic Vikings.
