February 16th Elementary Wrestling Review (02/21/14)

(By Coach Lee Weber)

At the Nu-Way Dual Meet Tournament, Owen Reinsel was asked by Team Waller of Pittsburgh to participate in an extremely tough competition, from several states, in Ohio. Coach Waller will only accept top notch wrestlers on his team, so it was an honor for Owen when Coach Waller requested that he would wrestle with his team.

At the Dubois tournament, Ben Smith placed 1st at 145 lbs and also went up to 160 lbs, to place 2nd. Little brother, Jake Smith, Chase Makray, and Brendan Makray all came back to place 3rd. Bryce Klawuhn, only wrestling in his second tournament, came home with the 2nd place trophy!

At the Western PA Novice Individual Wrestling Championship, we had 5 young wrestlers that wanted to test themselves against very skilled, wrestlers from the Pittsburgh area. We were able to hold our own, either by beating some of them or holding their own against more experience wrestlers.

Derek Smail lost a close match in the finals, to finish 2nd place. Dawson Smail also lost a close one, in his final match,

to finish 4th and Hayden Weber wrestled no fear, to go 2-2. Noah Harrison and Logan Powell both drew top place winners in their weight class, but were able to push their opponents to the limit.

At the Corry Novice Tournament, Mason Gourley and Hayden Hindman both wrestled with a lot of determination, to finish a strong 2nd.
