Junior High A-Team Opens Season With A Win (01/26/14)

(By Coach Jess Quinn)

On Thursday, January 23, 2014 the Jr. High Boys A-Team took on the East Forest Bears in Marrienville.

Our boys played well and erupted for 42 first half points. The Bobcats used a variety of defenses to put pressure on East Forest the entire first half, enabling them to score at will and, at the same time, limiting their opponent to only 3 points.

In the second half, the boys scored only 18 points. This due in part to a team knowing the game was well in hand and also a clock that was running throughout the 3rd and 4th quarters.

The final score was 58-11.

The Jr. High team did a nice job in the win. They did so with a mixture of intensity and fun, all the while, maintaining class during the game.

Christian Smith led all scorers with 19 points, including three 3-pointers. Cam Craig and Jimmy Smathers also had a good offensive night, adding 14 and 11 points respectively.

Nick Cherico and Zach Bauer did a nice job defensively, each having several steals.  All the boys got valuable minutes on the floor.

Spencer Miller was unable to make the trip with us, but will be ready to go next Tuesday, when The Bobcats take on the North Clarion Wolves. That game has been moved to a 3:30 start time on Clarion’s home floor.  The Clarion B-Team will play the first game followed directly by the A Team.
