Bobcats Down Vikings In KSAC Baseball (04/22/14)

The homestanding Clarion Area Baseball Team downed Venango Catholic 10-6, at Clarion County Park, on Monday (04/21).

The Bobcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead, in the bottom of the first. Neither team scored in the second. A five run, third inning by Clarion pushed their lead to 8-0. The Vikings closed the gap, by scoring 3 runs, in the top of the fourth, but the Bobcats answered with a run of their own, in the bottom of the inning, to make the score Clarion 9 – Venango Catholic 3.

After a scoreless fifth inning, each team pushed a run across in the sixth, moving the score to 10-4 and two runs by the Vikings, in the top of the seventh, set the 10-6 final.

John Katis was named the Bobcats’ Player of the Game by Coach Rob Jewett. Katis went 2 for 2, at the plate, with a double and two RBIs. One of four Bobcats to register two-baggers, he scored twice and had three stolen bases and came in, in relief in the last inning to pick up the save.

Brendan Miller was 2 for 3, with a double and a run scored. Miller was also the winning pitcher. Tanner Corbett was 1 for 3, with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Matt Verne had a double, in three trips to the plate, with an RBI and a run scored.

Adrian Weber drove in 3 runs, while going 1 for 3. He also scored once. Leo Aiello went 1 for 3, with two RBIs. Max Lane was 1 for 2, with a run scored. Caleb Wilson and Derek Lauer each scored a run and stole a base.

For the Vikings, Jonah Jones went 3 for 4, including a triple, driving in 2 runs and Zach Balog was 2 for 3, with an RBI and two runs scored.

The Bobcats now 4-0 and 3-0 in the Conference and are scheduled to play at Cranberry today (Tuesday 04/22), with game time set for 4:15.
