Clarion Sweeps Union In Track And Field (05/01/14)

The Clarion Area Track and Field Teams had a successful outing, recording a sweep of Union, at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday. The Bobcats won their contest, 95-45 while the Lady Cats won, 89-60.

The Bobcats swept four events, the 100, 400, 800 and Long Jump. They also captured all three Relays.

Ian Corbett and Liam Raehsler led the way, winning four events each.

Corbett won the 100 (11.1), 200 (22.9), Long Jump (19-11) and the 4×100 Relay along with Matt Wagner, Zach Hill and Cody Hearst (8:59.8). Raehsler won the 1600 (5:03.2), 3200 (10:32.5), the 4×800 Relay along with Damien Cherico, Adam Bettwy and Antonio Troese (8:59.8) which qualified for Districts and the 4×400 relay, teaming with Prince Brooks, Cherico and Brandon Phillips (4:17.9).

Cherico was a triple winner, also winning the 800 (2:20.7). Phillips was a double winner, also taking the 400 (58.8), as was Hill, who won the High Jump (5-10) and Hearst, who also won the Javelin (121-7).

Bettwy had second place finishes (1600 and 3200), as did Wagner (100, Long Jump). Josh Kriebel had a second (110 Hurdles) and a third  (Long Jump). Hill had a second (200) and third (100), as did Brooks with a second in the 400 and third in the 800. Troese (800) and Addison Hockins (Shot Put) also had second place finishes.

Ty Burford (110 Hurdles), Joao Gubolin (400), Levi Barger (Shot Put) and Allen Ochs (Javelin) each had third place finishes.

The Lady Cats swept three events, the 300 Hurdles and the Triple Jump and High Jump.

Laken Ganoe was a triple winner, taking the Triple Jump (33-2.5), High Jump (4-10) and the 4×100 Relay, along with Grace Kroh, Madison Weaver and Kyla Miles (54.1). Ganoe also finished second in the Long Jump, behind Weaver who jumped 14-8.5.

Joining Weaver, as a double winner, was Janelle Toy who finished first in the 800 (2:39.6) and was part of the victorious 4×800 Relay, along with Allison Harriger, Chelsea Mason and Emily Phillips (13:59.8).

Forest Mills won the 1600 (5:56.7). Hannah Frakes won the 3200 (14:28.4). Katie Eustice took the 100 Hurdles (19.5) ahead of Gloria Kroh, who finished second. Gloria Kroh led the sweep in the 300 Hurdles (56.3), with Eustice finishing second and Hannah Phillips finishing third. Jenn Ochs won the Javelin with a throw of 109-1, as well as taking third in the Shot Put.

Kyla Miles took second in both the 100 and 200. Maci Reichart finished second in the 3200. Julie Kenneson finished second to Ganoe in the High Jump, with Grace Kroh finished third, to complete the Lady Cats’ sweep in that event. Grace Kroh also had a third in the 200 and Gloria Kroh was second to Ganoe in the Triple Jump, with Grace Kroh finished third. Mason finished third in the 400 and Harriger finished third in the 1600.

Both the Boys and Girls Teams will compete in the Oil City Invitational, on Saturday. The last Dual Meet will be at Brookville, on Monday.
