Ian Corbett Reaches 100 Semis, Has Best Time In Pre-Lims (05/23/14)

Clarion Bobcat junior sprinter, Ian Corbett advanced to the Semi-Finals in the Boys AA 100 Meter Dash, at the PIAA State Track and Field Championships, at Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium, earlier today. Corbett finished first in Heat 4, with the best time on the day, 10:91. Anthony Maurent of GAR Memorial finished second, to Corbett, in Heat 4, and overall, with a 10:96. They were the only runners in the event to turn in sub-eleven second times.  Sixteen runners, the top three from each of the four heats and the runners with the next four best times, will advance to tomorrow’s action.

Clarion Area’s 4 x 100 team turned in a 49.19 time but didn’t qualify to move on.

Bobcat, Liam Raehsler will compete in the 3200 finals and Lady Bobcat, Jenn Ochs will compete in the Girls AA Javelin, tomorrow along with Redbank Valley’s Brooke Hinderliter.

Several Athletes from the area and around District Nine earned medals in events completed today. Franklin’s Abby Jones finished second in the Girls AAA High Jump, with a 5-08. Nico Florio, from Elk County Catholic, took third in the Girls AA High Jump, going 5-02. Brookville’s Brandi Cooper, finished 7th in the Girls AA Pole Vault, finishing at 10-06.

A number of other area athletes advanced to Saturday’s action, with strong showings, today:

Braden Smith – Brookville, Boys 110 Hurdles (to Semis)

Logan Moroney – Karns City, Boys AA 200 Meter Dash (to Semis)

Ethan Kibbe – Northern Potter, Boys 800 Meter Run (to Finals)

Kennedy Weisner – Elk County Catholic, Girls 800 and 1600 Meter Runs (to Finals in each)

Caitlin Vigilone – Johnsonburg, Girls 100 Meter Dash (to Semis)
