Bobcats Drop Doubleheader To Reynolds In Freshman Baseball Action (06/04/14)

The Clarion Bobcat Freshman Baseball Team traveled to Reynolds, on Saturday (May 31), for a doubleheader. The Cats lost by scores of 15-8 and 10-2.

Reynolds jumped out to a 12 point lead in the first game, scoring 8 in the first and 4 more in the second. Clarion came back to score 6 runs, in the top of the third, but Reynolds scored a run, in the bottom of the inning to take a 13-6 lead. Two Bobcat runs, in the fourth and two Raiders runs in the fifth set the final.

Coach Weber named Anthony Beveridge the Bobcats’ Player of the Game. Beveridge went 3 for 4, and scored two runs.

Max Lane had 3 hits, driving in a run and scoring a run. Matt Verne had 2 hits, with 2 RBIs and two runs scored. Thomas Plummer went 2 for 2, in the game. Derek Lauer had a double, 2 RBIs and scored a pair. Brady Himes and Kaiden Smith each had a single and an RBI and Taylor Smith scored a run and drove in a run.

Game two saw Reynolds jump out to a 4 run lead, in the first inning. The Bobcats scored their 2 runs in the top of the fifth and the Raiders closed out the scoring, with six runs in the bottom of the inning.

Lane went 2 for 3 and was named the Bobcats’ Player of the Game. Taylor Smith, Kaiben Smith, Verne and Plummer each had a hit. Verne and Beveridge scored the Bobcat runs and Kaiben Smith and Lauer each had an RBI.

The Bobcats played  East Forest, on Tuesday and Union, on Wednesday. They host East Forest on Friday.
