Bobcat Cross Country Teams Compete In Commodore Perry Invite; Liam Raehsler 1st, Hannah Frakes Medals (09/14/14)

The Clarion Area harriers competed in the Commodore Perry Panther Invitational, this past Saturday (September 13). The varsity boys’ team finished eighth out of twelve teams. Clarion’s Liam Raehsler won the race with a time of 17:01.50, nearly twenty seconds over second-place finisher Dan Wilcko of Fairview.

Just out of medal contention was Adam Bettwy finishing in twenty-eighth place with a time of 19:18.80. Other runners for Clarion on the boys varsity team finishing were Jimmy Smathers in 49th, Crowe Theim in 53rd, Kyle Bettwy in 58th, and Marshall Powers in 82nd.

Hannah Frakes earned a medal in the girls varsity run finishing nineteenth with a time of 23:09.80. Lili Frakes was the only other participant in the girls’ varsity race for Clarion finishing 61st.

Clarion Area finished ninth in the boys junior high school race, led by medalist Nathaneil Lerch who finished seventh with a time of 12:32.30, on the 1.9 mile course. Other Clarion runners were Curtis Shipley finishing in 33rd, Nick Schill in 45th, Noah Schill in 58th, and Daniel Ketner in 63rd.

The girls’ junior high school team finished tenth. Top finishers were Emma Spitz and Katie Craig finishing 38th and 41st respectively. Also competing were Hailey Sintobin (57th), Gabriella Fleming (58th), Morgan Kahle (68th), Briana Crusan (69th), Cassie Acey (89th), Rachel Williams (90th), and Holly Workman (91st).
