Ninth Grade Football Team Downs A-C Valley (10/05/14)

The homestanding Clarion Area Bobcat Ninth Grade Football Team defeated the A-C Valley Falcons 30-14, on Wednesday, September 24.

The Cats opened up by outscoring the Falcons 10-0 in the first quarter. Quarterback Keevan Weaver hit running back Cam Craig on a 3rd down and 30+ yard play, with a touchdown pass covering 67 yards down the left side. Craig kicked the PAT. The Cats led 7-0 at 3:59. Then with 46 seconds left in the quarter, Craig hit a 21 yard field goal from the left hash.

At 6:20 of the second quarter, Weaver hit wide receiver Ryley McMaster with a 35 yard touchdown pass on the right side, then with 3:28 left Craig scored on a 63 yard touchdown to the left. Craig was successful on both PATs, giving the Cats a 24-0 lead.

Cam Hearst had an interception for the Bobcats at 2:55 of the half, but five seconds later, on the very next play, Falcon defensive tackle Alex Woods recovered a fumble at midfield. Neither team would score again in the half.

Sterling Conner had a 20+ yard touchdown run, starting up the right side and cutting back to the left, at 7:01 of the third and the Cats led 30-0. But with seventeen seconds left in the stanza, Chase Terwilliger got the Falcons on the board, with a 1 yard touchdown run up the middle. A-C Valley converted the two point conversion, as quarterback Jeff Ginn ran around the left side and into the endzone. The score was now 30-8, Cats.

The Falcons got on the scoreboard one last time as Ginn hit Matt Thompson with a 40 yard touchdown to the left, with 2:50 left in the game, to set the 30-14 final.
