Bobcats And Lady Cats Sweep Track And Field Meets (04/30/15)

The Clarion Area Boys and Girls Track and Field Teams had two away meets, on two afternoons, this week and both won each day.

On Monday (April 27th) against Cranberry, the Bobcats won 98-52, while the Lady Cats were victorious by a 91-50 score. Then on Wednesday (April 29th) at Union, the Bobcats prevailed 95-51 and The Lady Cats won their match-up 103-43.

CRANBERRY BOYS MEET

The Bobcats had three quadruple winners, Liam Raehsler, Ian Corbett and Ethan Straffin.

Raehsler won the 800 (2:07), 1600 (4:56), 3200 (10:26) and along with Corbett, Josh Kriebel and Colton Rapp won the 4×400 relay (4:00).

Corbett won two individual firsts, the 200 (23.63) and the long jump (20-2) and two firsts on relays. In addition to the win on the 4×400 relay team, Corbett was also a member of the 4×100 relay (47.24) along with Zach Hill, Matt Wagner and Ty Burford.

All of Straffin’s wins were individual performances. He won the 100 (11:94), shot put (39-4), discus (113-4) and the javelin (128-6).

Hill won the high jump (5-5), Rapp won the pole vault (9-3), and Josh Kriebel won the 110 hurdles (16.56)

BOYS UNION MEET

Raehsler and Straffin were quadruple winners again. Raehsler won the 400 (54.0), 800 (2:16), 1600 (4:52) and 3200 (11:32). Straffin was victorious in the shot put (41-4), discus (100-9), javelin (148-11) and on the400 relay team (11:32) along with Corbett, Hill and Wagner.

Corbett also won the high jump (6-0). Kriebel won both the 100 hurdles (44.9) and the 300 hurdles (44.9).

The victorious 3200 relay team (9:50.0) consisted of Kyle Bettwy, Austin Hummell, Marshall Powers and Jimmy Smathers.

GIRLS CRANBERRY MEET

Jenn Ochs and Forest Mills were triple winners. She was victorious in the shot put (28-6), discus (80-2) and the javelin (119-0). Mills won the 100 (14.5), the 400 (1:07.0) and along with Zoe Shaffer, Elizabeth Ketner and Emily Phillips, the 4×400 (5:03) and finished second in the 800. Shaffer finished first in the 200 (31.0) and second in the 400.

The Lady Cats swept the high jump, with Julie Kenneson taking first (4-8), Katie Eustice taking second and Nicki Glenn finishing third. Eustice also jumped 4-8, which qualifies her for the District Nine Meet. She also won the 100 hurdles (18.6). Gloria Kroh was victorious in the triple jump (29-5.5) and finished third in the 300 hurdles.

Gabby Weaver was a double winner, taking the long jump (13-8) and winning the 4×100 relay (58.8) along with Aniya Brown, Gabby Weaver, Devon Quinn and Hannah Phillips. Weaver finished second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles.

Allison Harriger finished second in the 1600 and third in the 3200, Lili Frakes finished second in the 3200 and Aniya Brown finished second in the 3200. Devon Quinn finished third in the 200, to complete a Lady Cat sweep in the event.Quinn also took third in the 100.

Maya Miller (long jump), Hannah Phillips (triple jump), Claire Saylor (javelin) and Meredith Burkhart (javelin) all took thirds.

GIRLS UNION MEET

Weaver was a triple winner, taking the 100 hurdles (18.5), the 3oo hurdles (50.4) and the 4×100 relay (58.4), along with Brown, Quinn and Hannah Phillips. The Lady Cats swept the 100 hurdles with Eustice taking second and Quinn finishing third and the 300 hurdles, with Kroh finishing second and Emily Phillips finishing third. They also swept the high jump, with Kenneson finishing first (4-10), Eustice taking second and Nicki Glenn finishing third.

Jenn Ochs was a double winner, with victories in the shot put (29-1.5) and the javelin (122-0). She also took second in the discus, with Burkhart taking third. Torie Porter was a double winner, taking the pole vault (5-6) and as a member of the 4×400 relay (5:22.0), along with Emily Phillips, Saylor and Mills, who was also a double winner, taking the 800 (2:51.0). She also finished second in the 100 and 400. Chelsea Mason took second in the 800.

Kroh won the triple jump (30-8.75). with Hannah Phillips finishing second.

Allison Harriger won the 1600 (6:29.0) and joined Ketner, Emily Phillips and Chelsea Mason on the victorious 4×800 relay (13:12.0). Harriger and Emily Phillips were double winners.

Harriger finished second in the 3200. Maya Miller was second in the long jump.

Others getting thirds for the Lady Cats were: Quinn (100), Clara Sieling (1600), Shaffer (200) and Weaver (long jump).

The Bobcats and Lady Cats will compete at Brookville, on Tuesday (May 5th).
