CCCB Downs C&A Trees In Clarion Little League Softball Action (05/05/15)

On Friday May 1, Clarion Little League Softball action saw Clarion County Community Bank (CCCB) playing against C&A Trees. CCCB got the scoring started in the top of the 1st inning with Abby Simpson drawing a walk. Simpson then stole second and third base before scoring on a passed ball.

Following a pop out to the shortstop, Kyara Girvan drew a walk, followed by a single off the bat of Ava Cherico. Both Girvan and Cherico later scored.

Brennah Copenhaver followed with a base hit of her own, before stealing both second and third base. Brooke Baughman then grounded out back to Simko, scoring Copenhaver. Another groundout finished the top half of the 1st inning. C&A Trees did not score in the bottom half of the inning.

CCCB opened up the top half of the 2nd inning by scoring three runs from six consecutive walks. Two more runs came across as Ava Cherico again singled bringing in a pair. Brennah Copenhaver grounded out to the pitcher, scoring Cherico. After a couple of strikeouts, it was C&A’s turn at bat. C&A did not score though, as pitcher Abby Simpson had two groundouts hit back to her and then struck out the final batter of the inning. At the end of two innings, the score was 10-0.

CCCB was able to score three more runs in the top of the 3rd inning, behind 4 walks and multiple stolen bases. C&A was able to break open its scoring in the bottom half of the 3rd inning. Bailey Snowberger led off popping out to first base. Rebekah Ketner followed with a walk. New pitcher Jordan Best was able to strike out the next batter, but gave up a hit to Ava Kiser into right field which scored Ketner. Kiser later scored before Best was able to strike out the final batter of the inning. After three full innings, the score stood at 13-2.

In the top half of the 4th inning, CCCB was unable to produce any runs sending four batters to the plate against new pitcher Alayna Murray. C&A again was able to manufacture some offense in the bottom of the 4th inning. Payton Simko started the inning off with a walk and then stole both second and third bases. Simko was brought home on a base hit by Alayna Murray to end the scoring for the game. The game ended at the end of the 4th inning with CCCB winning 13-3.

Coach Rick Simpson’s CCCB team was led by Ava Cherico, who went 2 for 2 at the plate, with a walk. She had two RBI’s and scored three times herself. Coach Phil Kiser’s C&A Trees team was lead by Ava Kiser who went 1 for 2, scoring one run and Alayna Murray who also went 1 for 2 with one RBI.
