Cal German started Rotary off with a walk. Tommy Smith then singled, moving German on to third. German scored on a fielder’s choice by Brady Fowkes. Hummell struck out the side to end the top of the first inning. Delta scored one of their own in the bottom half of the first when Ethan Burford singled, then stole second and third base and scored on a wild pitch. Score was 1-1 at the end of first inning.

Hummell really got into the groove in the second, retiring three batters in a row with two strike outs and a ground out. Michael Snyder had his first hit of the season in the bottom half of the second inning but strong pitching from Fowkes kept Delta off the board.

Hayden Siegel started off the third with a single. Cal German followed with a double, but Hummell buckled down causing the next batter to fly out and striking out the side leaving Siegel and German stranded on second and third. In the bottom of the third, Fowkes continued to pitch a strong game, but Ethan Burford singled and was able to reach third on a throwing error. He then scored on a wild pitch putting Delta up 2-1 going into the fourth.

Breckin Rex then had a shot of his own, doubling and scoring Burford. Jase Ferguson then singled with a line drive to the outfield and scored Rex, putting Delta up 6-4. Jordan Hesdon then reached base on a fielder’s choice, and then Cody Whitling got his first Little League hit of the season scoring Hesdon putting Delta up 7-4 going into the sixth.

Ethan Burford came in relief for Hummell and retired three batters on eight pitches to secure the win for Delta, stricking out two and grounding out one giving Delta the 7-4 win.
