Track And Field: Lady Cats Split Tri-Meet (05/06/15)

The Clarion Area Girls Track And Field Team split a Tri-Meet, at Brookville on Tuesday (May 4th). The Lady Cats downed the DuBois Central Catholic Lady Cardinals 105-40, but fell by just one point, 75-74 to the host Lady Raiders.

The Bobcats had four girls earn individual wins, against both schools. Forest Mills won the 800 (2:43.31), Julie Kenneson took the high jump (4-10), Claire Saylor finished first in the discus (63-7) and Meredith Burkhart won the javelin (87-6). The 4×800 relay (13:04.52) comprised of Allison Harriger, Elizabeth Ketner, Emily Phillips and Chelsea Mason, was also victorious against each opponent.

Also against the Cardinals: Harriger won the 1600 (6:18.58), Mills won the 400 (1:06.57), Gloria Kroh took the triple jump (31-2) and Jen Ochs finished first in the shot put (26-2.5). Torie Porter won the pole vault (5-9). The 4×100 relay (58.3), made up of Anniya Brown, Gabby Weaver, Devon Quin and Hanna Phillips, as well as the 4×400 relay (5:54.03), consisting of Brown, Mills, Amanda Hartzell and Emma Murtha also were victorious.

Taking seconds for the Lady Cats against DCC were: Weaver – 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Mills – 100, Zoe Shaffer – 200 and 400, Ketner – 800, Saylor – shot put and javelin, Ochs – discus, Lili Frakes – 3200, Maya Miller – long jump and Datie Eustice – high jump.

Taking thirds against the Cardinals were: Kroh – 100 hurdles, Quinn – 100 and 200, Clara Sieling – 1600, Ketner – 400, Mason – 800, Harriger – 3200, Hanna Phillips – triple jump and Burkhart – shot put.

Also against Brookville: Weaver was victorious in the 100 hurdles (18.84) and 300 hurdles (51.16), while Frakes won the 3200 (15:43.40).

Placing second against the Raiders were: Kroh – 100 hurdles and triple jump, Mills -400, Emily Phillips – 300 hurdles, Shaffer – 200, Harriger – 3200, Eustice – high jump and Ochs – shot put.

Third place winners against Brookville were: Eustice -100, Shaffer – 400, Ketner – 800, Saylor – shot put and Ochs – Discus.

The Clarion Area Girls and Boys Track And Field Teams will take part in the Redbank Valley Invitational, today (Thursday, May 7th).
