Boys Basketball: Bobcats Drop Close Decision To Lions (12/24/15)

The Clarion Area Boys Basketball Team hosted Clarion-Limestone, in a match-up of undefeated teams on Tuesday night (December 22nd), before a packed house.

The rivals played close throughout, with Clarion holding a 21-19 lead after one quarter and a 38-35 at the half. The Bobcats led 58-52 after three. But the Lions came back to win the contest 72-69, outscoring the Cats 20-11 in the final stanza.

The Bobcats Jon Smith led all scorers with twenty-seven points, including a slam dunk in the last quarter. But the Lions had three players with big scoring games: Noah Rankin had 24 and former Bobcats Taylor Smith and Christian Smith had twenty and eighteen points respectively. The Lions were without Dan Callen, who is injured.

Clarion had two other players score in double-figures: Brendan Miller had twelve points and Cameron Craig had ten. Ceventh Lynch-Skunda just missed double figures with nine. Ty Burford had four points. Reed Anthony and Ryan Anthony each had two.

The JV contest went to the Bobcats 54-18. The Cats led 18-11 after one, 30-19 at the half and 43-32 after three quarters.

Drew Whren led the Junior Cats with thirteen points. Spencer Miller also hit double-figures, with ten. Tom Hearst had eight, Zack Bauer and Austin Hummell each had 7, Archer Mills scored 6 and Jacob Selker had three.

The Cats will participate in the Punxsutawney Tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday (December 29th and 30th).
