Brendan Miller Receives National Football Foundation And College Hall Of Fame Award (03/20/16)

Clarion Area senior Brendan Miller is the school’s 2016 National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Central Pennsylvania Chapter Scholar-Athlete Award winner.

Brendan was honored with fifty-one other student athletes, from throughout Central Pennsylvania, at the Chapter’s 19th Annual Scholar Athlete Awards Banquet, held Sunday, March 20th at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center, in State College.

The Award winners are selected based on Athletic Achievement (40%), Academic Achievement (40%) and Extracurricular/Community Service Participation (20%). Brendan was a four year starter on the Bobcats football team. He is also a member of the basketball and baseball teams. He was named Pennsylvania Football News All-State and WesternPAFootball.net, All-Western PA and PFN All-State Academic Team (Gold). Brendan was on the Principle’s List four years and is a member of the National Honor Society. He has volunteered at Golden Living Center Nursing Home for seven years and has been involved in Student Council, Band, Choir and the Musical.

Joining Brendan at the banquet were his parents, Scott and Laura Miller, brother Spencer Miller, grandparents Joe and Jayne Soney and Clarion Area football coach Larry Wiser.

Featured Speaker at this year’s banquet was former Penn State and New England Patriot lineman Todd Rucci. Penn State football coach James Franklin and Penn State Athletic Director Sandy Barbour. Rucci spoke about football promoting team work. Franklin mentioned that when good players face each other the one with better the work ethic has an advantage. The work ethic takes over.

This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award Winner is Bernard L. McQuown, a Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches

Association Hall of Fame Member, who spent part of his career at East Brady High School.
