Jonathan Smith, Anna Reed And Cameron Craig Named TCS/CE All-Stars (03/20/16)

The Tri-County Sunday and Courier Express newspapers, from DuBois announced their 2015-16 Basketball All-Stars in today’s (March 20th) edition of the Tri-County Sunday, and three Clarion Area players were selected to the squad.

Senior Jonathan Smith was named to the Boys First Team, while senior Anna Reed and sophomore Cameron Craig were given Honorable Mention nods on the Girls Team and Boys Team respectively.

Smith, a 6′-6″ shooting guard/forward scored 431 points (20.5 per game) and had 236 rebounds (11.2 per game). His 20.5 points per game was second only to Venango Catholic’s Brady Kingston’s 21.7, in all of District Nine.

Reed a 5′-5″ point guard scored 164 points (6.1 per game) and Craig, a 5′-10″ point guard/shooting guard scored 369 points (9.2 per game).

Elk County Catholic’s Nate DeCanal is the Boys Player of the Year and his coach Aaron Straub is the Boys Coach of the Year. Redbank Valley’s Brooke Hinderliter is the Girls Player of the Year and Elk County Catholic’s Ken Pistner is the Girls Coach of the Year.

Joining Smith and DeCanal on the Boys First Team were: Dan Callen – Clarion-Limestone; Christian LaParne – DuBois Central Catholic; Jeremy Brier – Ridgway; and Gabe Kraus – Elk County Catholic.

The Boys Second Team includes: Sam Heeter – Redbank Valley; Kurt Shindler – Brookville; Zach Sloan – DuBois; and Jeffrey Wehler and Parker Housler – St. Marys.

In addition to Craig, others making Honorable Mention for the Boys Team were: Taylor Smith and Noah Rankin – Clarion-Limestone (Smith played at Clarion Area through his junior year); Jimmy Moore – Brookville; Nick La Brasca – DuBois; Justin Miknis and Joe Varischetti – Dubois Central Catholic; Jake Wineberg and Carter Adams – Brockway; Kevin Benson – Johnsonburg; Andy Brier – Ridgway; Brady Bauer – St. Marys; and Keven Huff – Elk County Catholic.

Joining Hinderliter on the Girls First Team are: Hali Olson – Brookville; Riley Assalone – DuBois Central Catholic; Leah Lindemuth – Brockway; Rachel Bauer – St. Marys; and Reilly Herzing – Elk County Catholic.

Members of the Girls Second Team include: Elaina Powell – Brookville; Dayna DeSalve and Courtney Chandler – DuBois; Jessica Kifer – Ridgway; and Rachelle Armanini – St. Marys.

In addition to Reed, others making Honorable Mention on the Girls Team were: Becca Dougherty – Redbank Valley; Taylore Uplinger – DuBois; Jordy Frank – DuBois Central Catholic; Emily Fulem – Ridgway; Nicole Myers – Johnsonburg; Cassidy Cunningham – Elk Country Catholic ; and Hannah Dixon – Curwensville.
