U-12 Striker Coed Team Victorious (05/15/16)

After two straight losses the U12 Striker coed Team was able to get their second win of the season against an always competitive Greenville team.

In the beginning the two teams appeared to be pretty evenly matched. The Striker offense came out strong and had some pretty good runs at the Greenville goal, but it was the outstanding Striker defense that was able to keep Greenville from scoring opportunities early on. Kaleb Wolbert, Keagan Phillips, Charlie Franchino and Bailey Snowberger were able to clear the ball out of their end of the field so that goalie Tyler Bingham only had to make a couple of great saves.
The Striker offense scored first on a pass from Bailee Verdill to Max Southworth to get the first goal of the game. It wasn’t long after that Greenville got one in just out of Tyler Bingham’s reach to tie the game at 1-1. With Brett English out because of an injury and Nate Megnin on limited activity because of an injury, the Strikers were able to add Korrin Burns and Eva Lerch to the roster. The Striker offensive lines were doing everything right, but were unable to get anything past the Greenville goalie until Bailee Verdill had a perfectly placed corner kick that Korrin Burns was able to drive in the goal to make the score 2-1.

Lexi Coull was able to use her speed to keep the pressure on Greenville. Riley Milliron and Max Southworth worked the front line well, but the next goal came off yet another corner kick from Verdill who placed the ball in front of the net with Evelyn Lerch heading it in just past the goalie.
Greenville had some pretty good scoring opportunities, but Tyler Bingham was on his game and was able to hold them at one goal.
The last score of the game came from a cross pass from Nate Megnin to Evelyn Lerch to make the final score Strikers 4 Greenville 1.
It was fun to watch everyone working together as a team!!
Sunday, May 15th Schedule: The U12 coed Team at Meadville, U14 coed team will play at home at 3:00 pm., the U12 girls and the U10 white team at home Sunday at 1:30.
