Baseball Roundup: Bobcats 5-0 Last Week, Clinch KSAC North Title (05/15/16)

The Clarion Area Baseball Team had a great showing last week, going 5-0, including two doubleheader sweeps, on Monday (May 9th) and Wednesday(May 11th) and clinching the KSAC North Title on Thursday (May 12th).

Monday: Doubleheader Against Forest Area

The Bobcats started the week by hosting Forest Area in a doubleheader. The games would each end after three innings, by identical 15-0 scores.

The first game saw Brendan Miller throw a no-hitter, against the Fires, while recording six strikeouts.

Sterling Conner had a triple and two RBIs, Ryan Anthany had a single and three RBIs and Adrian Weber singled and drove in two runs. Leo Aiello, Cam Craig and Caleb Wilson each had a hit.

The Bobcats, Ryan Anthony and Craig combined for a no-hitter in the nightcap.

Miller singled and drove in three runs, Aiello had a single, a double and two RBIs. Weber and Craig each doubled and drove in a pair of runs. Luke Nellis had a single and two RBIs, while Wilson and Anthony each drove in a run.

Wednesday: Doubleheader Against Clarion-Limestone

The Bobcats traveled to Clarion-Limestone and came away with a 10 -0 (5 inning) win in game one and an 8-1 win in the second game.

Reed Anthony threw a one-hitter in the opener, while registering eight strikeouts, to pick up the complete game win.

Brendan Miller had three hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs. Caleb Wilson had a triple and an RBI. Leo Aiello had two hits and drove in two runs, Adrian Weber had two singles and an RBI and Reed Anthony had a single and drove in one run.

The second game saw Miller and Craig both getting doubles, while Aiello, Weber, Anthony and Sterling Conner each picked up singles. Miller, Craig and Aiello each had two runs batted in. Weber also drove in a run.

Weber was the winning pitcher. He and Craig combined to throw seven strikeouts.

Thursday: Against Venango Catholic

The Bobcats clinched the KSAC North title with a 4-0 win over Venango Catholic, in a game shortened by weather conditions.

Brendan Miller threw a no-hitter, while collecting four strikeouts. He also had a triple.

Reed Anthony had a single and an RBI, as did Caleb Wilson. Leo Aiello, Ryan Anthony and Sterling Conner each had hits for the Bobcats.

The 12-3 Bobcats are scheduled to host Brookville on Monday (May 16th).
