Baseball: Bobcats Go 1-And-1 Against Cranberry (05/08/16)

The Clarion Area Baseball Team had a home and home “series” with Cranberry, last Monday (May 2nd) and Tuesday (May 3rd), with the finals being almost mirror images of each other.

The Bobcats fell to the visiting Berries, on Monday, by an 8-3 score, then won at Cranberry, on Tuesday, 8-4.

In Monday’s game, Clarion scored a run in the bottom of the second. Cranberry answered with two in the third and then plated six runs in the sixth inning, giving them an 8-1 lead. The Bobcats scored two more in the bottom of the inning to set the 8-3 final.

Leo Aiello had three hits for the Bobcats, including a double and scored a run. Brendan Miller and Reed Anthony each had doubles. Miller drove in a run. Adrian Weber and Ryan Anthony each singled and drove in a run. Luke Nellis singled and scored a run.

On Tuesday, the Berries opened the scoring, with two runs in the bottom of the first. The Cats answered with three in the top of the third. Two Cranberry runs, in the bottom of the inning, gave the Berries a 4-3 edge.

The Bobcats came back with five runs in the fifth, to capture the 8-4 win.

Weber picked up the win, with Reed Anthony getting the save.

Weber had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Miller, Nellis and Caleb Wilson each singled, drove in a run and scored a run. The Anthony brothers, along with Sterling Conner, each singled and scored a run. Cameron Craig drove in a run and also scored once.
