Track And Field: Bobcats, Lady Cats Down Lions, Fall To Bulldogs In Tri-Meets (05/08/15)

The Clarion Area Boys and Girls Track and Field Teams competed against Clarion-Limestone and Redbank Valley in separate tri-meets on Wednesday (May 4th), with each downing the C-L Lions and falling to the Bulldogs. The boys competed at C-L while the girls were at Clarion.

The Bobcats defeated C-L 79.67-68.33, while falling to the Bulldogs. The Lady Cats downed C-L 77-73 and dropped an 89.5-60.5 decision to Redbank Valley.

Boys

The 4×800 Relay Team took first with a time of 9:05. Individual winners were AdamBettwy in the 1600 (5:06.2), Kyle Patterson in the 300 hurdles (45.9), Josh Kriebel in the high jump (18-1.5) and Tom Hearst in the pole vault (9-6 tie).

Krieble and Adam Bettwy each had seconds, Kriebel in the 100 hurdles and Bettwy in the 800. Also getting seconds were Marshall Powers in the 400, Kyle Bettwy in the 3200 and Jimmy Smathers in the javelin. Austin Hummell had a third in the 800, while Archer Mills and Curtis Shipley were part of a three way tie for third place in the high jump.

Girls

Gabby Weaver won two individual events, taking the 100 hurdles in 17.9 and the 300 hurdles in 51.6. She teamed with Forest Mills, Hannah Phillips and Phylicia Hockman to win the 4×400 relay, with a time of 4:35.9. Alexa Kriebel finished first in the 100, with a time of 13.4, Wendy Beveridge won the long jump with a distance of 16-6 and Lexi Lauer had a leap of 4-8 to claim the high jump.

Gathering second place finishes for the Lady Cats were: Lauer in the 100 hurdles, Katie Craig in the 1600, Beveridge in the triple jump and Claire Saylor in the shot put.

Clarion’s third place winners were: Beveridge in the 100, Hockman in the 300 hurdles and Craig in the 3200.
