Softball: Lady Cats Win Senior Night Game, On Friday, Bounce Back From Two Losses Earlier In The Week (05/08/16)

The Clarion Area Softball Team downed Brookville 3-0 on Friday (May 6th), on Senior Night at Paul A. Weaver Park, bouncing back from losses to Cranberry, on Tuesday (May 3rd) and St. Marys on Wednesday (May 4th).

CLARION 3 – BROOKVILLE 0

Sadie Rudesyle was the winning pitcher against the Lady Raiders, recording eight strikeouts, while issuing just one walk. She also had two singles on offense.

The Lady Cat seniors,  Keanna Over, Johnna Rapp and Anna Reed each had a good game. Over registered three hits, including two doubles, and scored a run. Rapp singled and doubled, while Reed singled.

Carly Best singled and scored a run. Cora Zerfoss had a single, Maya Thornton scored a run and Harley Frey had an RBI.

The Lady Cats honored the three senior players, in a ceremony before the game. Manager Dan Shofestall had this to say about his senior trio, “It was good to see Keanna, Johnna and Anna all make significant plays here on Senior Night to help us get the win. It was also fitting to see them do it on the field where they have made so many memories from Little League through high school ball.

“It was great to honor these three seniors tonight and congratulate and recognize them for the contributions they have made to Clarion Softball over the years. We wish them the best as they move onto the next chapter of their lives.”

EARLIER GAMES:

CRANBERRY 2 – CLARION 1

In the Tuesday game at Cranberry, the Lady Berries scored one run each, in the first and fourth innings. The Lady Cats scored their run in the sixth.

Johnna Rapp had a double, scoring Keanna Over. Sadie Rudesyle also doubled for the Bobcats.

ST. MARYS 4 – CLARION 1

In the game at St. Marys, the Lady Dutch jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Clarion came back to tie the game, with a run in the top of the fourth, but St. Marys scored two in the bottom of the inning and another in the fifth, to set the 4-2 final.

Johnna Rapp and Sadie Rudesyle each had doubles. Rapp scored Clarion’s run. Keanna Over and Anna Reed each had singles.
