Bobcat Track And Field Teams Hold Awards Picnic (06/5/16)

The Clarion Area Boys And Girls Track And Field Teams held their Awards Picnic on Tuesday (May 31st) at the Clarion County Park. The event focused on the accomplishments of the Track and Field program this past season, with numerous athletes, coaches and other individuals being recognized.

This season’s coaches are: Molly Kirby – Girls Head Coach, Dan Alderton – Boys Head Coach, Nate McClaine – Girls Assistant Coach and B.J Roth – Boys Assistant Coach. Volunteer Assistant Coaches include: Danielle Konopski, Jacob Porter and Julie Kenneson.

The athletes making the Keystone Shortway Conference (KSAC) All-Conference selections were awarded their certificates. They included, for the Girls: First Team – Forest Madison Mills in the 800 and Wendy Beveridge in the long jump and Second Team – Gabby Weaver in the 300 hurdles and for the Boys: Second Team: the 4×800 relay, consisting of Keyle Bettwy, Austin Hummell, Marshall Powers and Adam Bettwy, Josh Kriebel 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles and Adam Bettwy 1600.

Girls Team Award Winners are: Co-Track MVP’s – Forest Madison Madison Mills and Gabby Weaver, Field MVP – Wendy Beveridge, Coaches Award – Hannah Phillips, Dedication Award – Claire Saylor and Outstanding Underclassman Award – Wendy Beveridge and Gabby Weaver.

Boys Team Award Winners are: Track MVP – Adam Bettwy, Field MVP – Josh Kriebel, Coaches Award – Adam Bettwy, (Bob Bowersox) Sox Dedication Award – Kyle Bettwy and Outstanding Underclassman Award – Adam Bettwy.

A number participated in to the District Nine Class A Meet: Boys – Adam Bettwy (1600-fourth place) and Josh Kriebel (110 hurdles-3rd place, 300 hurdles-3rd place); Girls – Forest Madison Mills (800-second place), Wendy Beveridge (triple jump-fifth place, long jump-seventh place). Gabby Weaver ( 110 hurdles-sixth, 300 hurdles-9th), Lexi Lauer (high jump-ninth place), Wendy Beveridge, Alexa Kriebel, Forest Mills and Gabby Weaver (4×100 relay-ninth place), Gloria Kroh (high jump-eleventh place), Elsa Tovar (Discus-eighteenth place) and Phylicia Hockman, Forest Mills, Hannah Phillips and Gabby Weaver (4×400 relay).

Forest Madison Mills advanced to States in the 800 and finished in twentieth place.

The Coaches also presented letters and pins to the letter winners. Boys earning letters were: Jacob Burns, Archer Mills, Curtis Shipley, Nick Cherico, Tom Hearst, Austin Hummell, Harrison Porter, Marshall Powers, Brendan Zerfoss, Adam Bettwy, Noah Cole, Josh Kriebel, Kyle Patterson, Jimmy Smathers and Kyle Bettwy. Girls earning letters were: Wendy Beveridge, Meredith Burkhart, Katie Craig, Phhylicia Hockman, Dorothy Kalinowski, Alexa Kriebel, Gloria Kroh, Lexi Lauer, Forest Madison Mills, Hannah Phillips, Claire Saylor, Elsa Tovar and Gabby Weaver.

The Coaches thanked the parents, Athletic Director Nancy Mills and Junior High Head Coach Keith Murtha.
