Three Bobcats To Compete In Football All-Star Games (06/05/16)

The Clarion Area Football Team will be represented by three members who will participate three different all-star games, in the next few weeks. Bobcat head coach Larry Wiser will participate in two of the games and graduated senior players Brendan Miller and Will Staub will get to represent the Orange and Black, one last time, in their respective games.

Miller will be the first to see action, as the Bobcat quarterback and defensive back will be a member of the North Squad, in the Central Pennsylvania Football Coaches Association’s 32nd Annual Lezzer Lumber Classic at Mansion Park Stadium in Altoona, on Friday, June 17th.

The game, which starts at 7:00 P. M., includes players and coaches from Districts 6, 7 and 9.

The North Squad includes players from: Bald Eagle Area, Bellefonte, Brookville, Central Mountain ,Clarion, Clearfield, Curwensville, Dubois, Glendale, Moshannon Valley, Penns Valley, Philipsburg-Osceola, Punxsutawney, State College, West Branch and Brockway.

The South Squad includes players from: Altoona, Bellwood-Antis, Bishop Carroll,Bishop Guilfoyle, Central (Martinsburg), Central Cambria, Claysburg-Kimmel, Hollidaysburg, Huntingdon, Juniata Valley, Mifflin County, Mount Union, Penn Cambria, Southern Huntindon, Tyrone and Williamsburg.

The very next evening, Saturday, June 18th, coach Wiser will be on the sidelines, as an assistant coach for  Pennsylvania, in the 59th Annual Big 33 Football Classic, at Hershey Park Stadium in Hershey.

The Big 33 Classic, the number one all-star game in the state, pits the Pennsylvania squad against all-stars from Maryland.

The Big 33, which has never failed to have at least one alumnus in each Super Bowl played to date, has over the years, seen Pennsylvania hosting Texas, Ohio, and a U.S.A team, as well as being a PA East vs West and Blue vs Grey match-up.

This year’s game will kick off at 7:06 P. M.

The third Bobcat to take part in an all-star game, this summer is lineman Will Staub, who will participate in the 1st Annual Frank Varischetti (KSAC vs AML) All-Star Game, at Brockway’s Frank Varischetti Field, on Friday, July 1st, along with Coach Wiser who will be an assistant coach for this game also. The game coincides with Brockway’s Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration. Kickoff time is set for 7:00 P. M.

The Allegheny Mountain League (AML) is represented by Brockway, Ridgway/Johnsonburg, Curwensville, Kane, Elk County Catholic, Sheffield, Cameron County, Smethport, Port Allegany, Coudersport and Otto-Eldred.

The Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference (KSAC) is comprised of Brookville, St. Marys, Punxsutawney, Clarion, Redbank Valley, Union, Clarion-Limestone, Keystone, A-C Valley, Karns City and Moniteau.
