Lady Cats Fine Softball Season Comes To An End (06/09/16)

The Clarion Area Softball Team saw there season end on Monday, at California University’s Lilley Field, with a 12-2 (five inning) loss to West Greene, in the opening round of the PIAA State Playoffs.

The Lady Cats, who were without two starters, hung tough through the first four innings. Clarion opened the game with two runs in the top of the first. Sadie Rudesyle drove in Keanna Over from third and later Johnna Rapp stole home. West Greene answered with two runs, in the bottom of the inning, to tie the score.

Neither team scored in the second, but The Lady Pioneers plated a run in the third to take a 3-2 lead. The score remained the same until the fifth, when West Greene scored nine runs to set the final.

Rapp, Rudesyle and Carly Best each had hits for the Bobcats.

So The Lady Cats end a fine season, that saw them finish with a 15-9 record, going 9-2, with nine straight wins after a 6-7 start. Their two losses at the end of the season came to teams with a combined 47-1 record. This team far exceeded anyone’s expectations.
