Junior High Boys Basketball B-Team Starts Season At 2-0 (01/22/17)

CLARION 21 – CLARION-LIMESTONE 7

On Tuesday, January 17th, the Jr. High Boys B-Team opened their season by playing in the Lions Den at Clarion-Limestone. Both teams played hard, and the Bobcats came out on top by a score of 21-7.

Christian Simko and Chase Kriebel combined for 15 of the 21 points. Both players scored 4 points in the opening quarter as the Bobcats jumped out to an 8 – 0 advantage. Kriebel kept the hot hand in the second quarter, scoring 3 more points while Aidan Quinn netted two to give Clarion a 13 – 1 halftime lead.

Simko kept the scoring going in the third, scoring all 4 of the Bobcats points to extend the lead to 17 – 2 after three. Ryan Alston got in the scoring column in the fourth with 4 points of his own to set the final at 21 – 7.

For the Bobcats, Simko had a game high 8 points followed by Kriebel (7), Alston (4) and Quinn (2). For the Lions Coulson had 8 points, Rankin (2), Huwar (1) and Megnin (1).

CLARION 23 – CRANBERRY 12

On Thursday, January 19th, the Jr. High Boys B-Team traveled to Cranberry to take on the Berries. The young Bobcats came out firing, scoring 11 points in opening frame while not giving up a single point. Christian Simko lead the way with 6 points in the quarter while Chase Kriebel followed with 4 and Aidan Quinn chipped in with a free throw.

Clarion cooled off in the second quarter, scoring only 2 points on a basket by Ryan Alston, but lead 13 – 2 going into the half. We were able to extend the lead to 19 – 4 after three on baskets by Alston, Cam Lapinto and Simko.

The Bobcats were outscored in the fourth by a score of 8 – 4, but won the game 23 – 12. Cole Wrhen and Simko had baskets for the Bobcats in the final period.

Clarion was lead by Simko with 10 points, followed by Alston and Kriebel (4 each), Lapinto and Wrhen (2 each) and Quinn (1)

For Cranberry, Richar netted 6 points, while Wilson, Kiefer and O’Brien had 2 each.

The B-Team now sits at 2 – 0 on the young season.
