Track And Field: Bobcat And Lady Cats Sweep Cardinals And Falcons (04/30/17)

The  Clarion Area Track And Field Teams hosted the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals and A-C Valley Falcons at Memorial Stadium, on Wednesday (April 26th), with the Bobcats and Lady Cats both sweeping their opponents.

The Lady Cats downed DCC by 2 points, 76-74 and A-C Valley 87-59, while the Bobcats defeated the Cardinals 87-60 and the Falcons 119-16.

(Lady Cats results includeall three schools as a tri-meet. Bobcatsresults are against A-C Valley only, results against DCC not made available.)

LADY CATS

Meredith Burkhart, Chelsea Mason, Ali Troese and Phylicia Hockman all were double winners. Burkhart won the shot put (28-2.25) and javelin (91.9). Mason won the 3200 (13:54.7) and joined Troese, Hockman and Ailish Nagy on the winning 4×800 relay (11:47.6). Troese and Hockman joined Hannah Phillips and Forest Madison Mills on the victorious 4×400 relay (4:54.9). Mason also finished third in the 1600. And Mills finished second in the 400 and 800.

Laken Lewis had a first in the pole vault (9-0) and Lexie Lauer took the high jump (4-11).

Lexie Lauer

Lewis finished third in the high jump and 100. Wendy Beveridge was second in the triple jump and third in the long jump. Imani Turner finished second in the javelin.

Kiarra Girvan finished third in the 200, Gabby Weaver finished third in the 300 hurdles and Katie Craig finished third in the 3200.

BOBCATS

Brendan Zerfoss led a sweep in the 100 (11.2), the 200 (23.0) and anchored thewinning 4×100 (45.1), where was joined by Marshal Powers, Archer Mills and Ty Burford. Burford took the triple jump (39-5.25), and Mills won the high jump (5-6). Powers won the 300 hurdles (43.8). Burford was second and Powers third in the 100.

Austin Hummel won the 800 (2:11.4) Adam Bettwy won the 3200 (11.08.8). Both were members of the victorious 4×800 relay (11:49.9) along with Nathaniel Lerch and Nick Schill. Schill was second in the 800. Ti-Jon Faulk -Taylor won the 100 hurdles (19.5). Faulk-Taylor also took third in the 200.

Jacob Burns won the long jump (17.5), Tom Hearst won the pole vault (9-6), Clay McElravy finished first in the discus (98-8) and Jimmy Smathers won the javelin (138-1). The 4×400 relay was victorious.

Nick Cherico

McElravy inished second in the shot put and third in the javelin. Ben Murtha was second in the long jump and triple jump, Frank Weber was second and Jacob Smith third in the 3200, finishing behind Bettwy for a sweep in that event. Harrison Porter was second in the pole vault and Nick Cherico was second in the javelin. Cherico also took thirds in the shot put and javelin.
