Track And Field: Boys And Girls Sweep North Clarion And Keystone (04/22/17)

The Clarion Area Track and Field Teams competed against North Clarion and Keystone, on Wednesday (April 19th) and both the Bobcats and Lady Cats swept their meets. The Boys competed at Keystone, while the Girls were at North Clarion.

The Bobcats downed Keystone 98.5 to 49.5 and topped North Clarion 98-51. The Lady Cats posted a 99-51 win against North Clarion and won by a 121-29 margin over Keystone.

(Place finishes are over-all combining all three schools)

BOYS

Brendan Zerfoss was a quadruple winner taking the 100 (11.4) and the 200 (23.0) while joining Marshall Powers, Archer Mills and Ty Burford for a win in the 4×100 and Mills, Powers and Jacob Burns for a win in the 4×100 (3:53).

Austin Hummel led a sweep in the 80o (2:14). Adam Bettwy finished second and Nick Schill finished third. Hummel joined  Bettwy, Schill and Nathaniel Lerch on the victorious 4×800 relay (9:16). Ti-Jon Faulk-Taylor won the 100 hurdles (19.4). Tom Hearst was victorious in the pole vault (10.0), with Harrison Porter finishing second in the event. Burns won the long jump (18-7.5)

Bettwy had two other second place finishes, in the 1600 and 3200. Clay McElravy finished second in the discus, Burns was second in the 300 hurdles and Jimmy Smathers took second in the javelin. Powers had thirds in the 300 hurdles and 100. Lerch had a third in the 1600, Burford had a third in the triple jump and Isaac Kim finished third in the 400.

GIRLS

Four Lady Cats were double winners in individual events. Laken Lewis won the 100 hurdles (17.5) and pole vault (8-0), Chelsea Mason took the 1600 (6:10.3)and3200 (13:17.0), Forest Madison Mills finished first in the 400 (1:11.2) and 800 (2:40.1) and Wendy Beveridge was victorious in the long jump (14-11) and triple jump (30-11).

Lexi Lauer won the high jump (4-7). Gabby Weaver (53.9) and Ailish Nagy finished one-two in the 300 hurdles. Nagy also finished second in the triple jump, behind Beveridge and Lauer completed a sweep in the event with a third. Lewis had a second in the long jump. Weaver was second in the 100 hurdles and Phylicia Hockman took second in the 800.

Ali Troese and Lauren Troutman finished second and third, in the 400 to complete a sweep, behind Mills. Katie Craig had thirds in the 1600 and 3200, while Meredith Burkhart had thirds in the discus and javelin.

The Lady Cats swept the relays. Nagy, Mason, Troese and Hockman won the 4×800 (11:41.7), Girvan, Mills, Weaver and Beveridge took the 4×100 (56.6) and Weaver, Hockman, Hockman, Girvan and Mills were victorious in the 4×400 (4:52.0).

Both teams will host A-C Valley and DuBois Central Catholic, at Memorial Stadium, on Wednesday (April 26th).
