Bobcat Volleyball Wins On Senior Night

The Clarion Bobcat volleyball team downed the McDowell Lady Trojans 4-1 to celebrate Senior Night on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.   Clarion jumped out to a 2-0 lead, winning the match’s opening sets 25-18 and 25-19.  McDowell rallied to claim the third set 25-12 after which Clarion closed out the match with a 25-19 victory in the fourth.

Maya Thornton served for 7 points (2 aces) and pounded down a team high 16 kills.  Both Maddi Schill and Brenna Campbell had 9 points from the service line (1 ace each).  Campbell paced the Bobcats with 28 assists.  Sydney Kiser accounted for 6 service points (1 ace) and 5 kills, with Lexi Lauer serving for 4 and slamming home 7 kills.

Alexis Constantino led the Bobcat defense with 37 digs.  Thornton had 14 digs and Kiser 11.  Hailey Sintobin and Schill each had 2 blocks.

Prior to the match, seniors Alexis Constantino, Sydney Kiser, Maya Miller, and Maya Thornton were honored in pre-match ceremonies.

Volleyball Victorious Against Redbank Valley

The Bobcat volleyball team swept the Redbank Valley Bulldogs 25-19, 25-18, and 25-19 on October 12 to claim their 18th win of the season.

Freshman Brenna Campbell served for a team high 17 points and led the Bobcats with 22 assists.  Senior Maya Thornton contributed 8 on serve and slammed home a team leading 6 kills.  Classmate Alexis Constantino had 12 service points (2 aces), while her sister, sophomore Kaitlyn Constantino), served for 8 and totaled 5 kills.

Alexis Constantino was the Bobcat leader in digs with 18.  Thornton and junior Lexi Lauer had 13 apeice.  Junior Hailey Sintobin had 5 solo blocks at the net, with sophomore Maddie Schill registering 3 solo blocks and assisted on 2 others.

(Editor’s note: Clarion also defeated homestanding Altoona 3-2 [25-17, 23-25, 25-11, 17-25, 15-13] early last week.)
