Basketball Round-up: Bobcats And Lady Cats Both Go 1-1 On Week (12/16/17)

The Clarion Area Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball Teams were both in action twice this week, and both were 1 and 1.

BOBCAT HOSTING CLARION-LIMESTONE

The Bobcat Boys opened the week, hosting Clarion-Limestone on Tuesday (December 12th), in a KSAC North contest. The Lions won the game 57-42. The game was close through the first half, with C-L holding a 21-11 edge after one and a 26-24 halftime lead. A 19-10 third quarter edge and a 12-8 fourth quarter advantage, by the Lions set the final.

Cam Craig led the Bobcats with 15 points. Gavin Brinkley and Nick Frederick each chipped in with eleven. TiJon Faulk-Taylor, Austin Hummell and Josh Craig contributed 4 points apiece. Archer Mills had 2 points and Drew Wrhen added one.

Ian Callen led the Lions with fourteen points. Hayden Callen followed with twelve.

LADY CATS AT CLARION-LIMESTONE

On Wednesday (December 13th), the Lady Cats defeated homestanding Clarion-Limestone 54-41, in a KSAC game. The Lady Lions led by one, 11-10 after one and with both teams bucketing 12 points in the second, 23-22 at the break. Clarion held an 11-9 edge in the third to take a 33-31 lead into the final stanza. A 21-9, Lady Cat edge in the fourth set the final.

Kate Constantino led the Lady Cats with 20 points. Wendy Beveridge followed with twelve. K. K. Girvan and Ali Troese chipped in with 8 and 7 points respectively.

Anna Burns had 12 points for C-L.

Both Clarion teams played on Friday (December 16th), with the Bobcats downing homestanding Venango Catholic 77-46 and the visiting Lady Cats falling to the St. Marys Lady Dutch 33-24.

BOBCATS AT VENANGO CATHOLIC 

Cam Craig led the Bobcats with 25 points against the Vikings, in their KSAC North game. Hummell had 15, Nick Frederick scored 9 points and Josh Craig followed with eleven.

Brad Gillispie had 20 points for VC, followed by Josh Puleo’s sixteen.

Clarion led 21-13 after one, 41-18 at the half and 59-29 after three.

LADY CATS AT ST. MARYS

Clarion led 7-5 after one, but the Lady Dutch had a 10-7 second quarter advantage and a 9-3 advantage in the third, to lead 24-17 heading into the fourth quarter. A Dutch 9-7 advantage in the fourth set the final.

Constantino led the Lady Cats, as she scored 14 points against the Dutch. Girvan and Sadie Rudesyle each had four points.

Megan Quesenberry led the St. Marys with 10 points.

The Lady Cats will travel to Cranberry on Tuesday (December 19th) and the Bobcats will host Cranberry on Wednesday (December 20th).
