Basketball: Lady Cats Fall To Cranberry In D9 Class AA Quarterfinals (02/24/18)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats 2017-18 basketball season came to an end on Wednesday (February 21st) with a 51-48 loss to the Cranberry Lady Berries, at North Clarion High School.

The game was close throughout. Clarion held a 9-7 lead after one. Cranberry was up 16-10 in the second, but Kate Constantino bucketed six straight points (a field goal and four free throws) to knot the game at 16-all, at the half.

Constantino sank a shot and was fouled to open the second half. She made the free throw and Clarion was up 19-16. With Wendy Beveridge hitting a trey, to close the third quarter scoring, the Lady Cats had a nine point lead, 33-24 heading into the final stanza.

The Lady Cats were up by twelve with just under six minutes to play, but the Berries fought back and pulled out the victory.

Beveridge led the Cats with 20 points, 6 blocked shots and seven rebounds. Constantino had fifteen points.

K. K. Girvan had six points and Ali Troese added three.

Clarion senior Sadie Rudesyle scored four points in her final game for the Black and Orange.

Malliah Schreck led Cranberry with 20 points. K. K. Girvan had six points and Ali Troese added three.
