Bobcats Fall To Elkers In D9 Class AA Boys Basketball Semifinal, Play Brockway In Consolation Game (02/28/18)

The Clarion Bobcat Boys Basketball Team fell to a tough Ridgway Elkers squad, in 44-24, the District Nine Class AA semifinals, on Tuesday (February 27th), at DuBois High School.

Ridgway led wire to wire. The Elkers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first and finished the frame up 17-4.

The second quarter saw the Cats chop the deficit to eight points at 18-10, on a bucket by Bobcat scoring leader Cam Craig who led the Cats with fourteen points. The half ended with Clarion trailing by ten, 22-12 as the Cats outscored the Elkers 8-5, in the second.

A 13-5 Ridgway advantage in the third saw Cats down 35-17 heading to the final stanza. The Elkers had a 9-7 advantage in the fourth to set the final.

Four other Bobcats scored in the contest,with Nick Frederick scoring 4 points and Spencer Miller, Jake Burns and Austin Hummell each contributing two points.

Neil MacDonald led the Elkers with fifteen points.

The Bobcats will face Brockway in the consolation game, at a date, time and site to be announced. The winner will move on to the PIAA State playoffs, as the number three seed out of District Nine.
