Clarion Area Track Teams Split With Keystone And Clarion-Limestone (04/14/18)

The Clarion Area Track Teams competed in two meets this week, traveling to Keystone on Tuesday (April 10th) and to Clarion-Limestone on Thursday (April 12th).

The Bobcat Boys downed the Panthers 97-44, while the Lady Cats fell 78-63. At C-L, the Lady Cats downed the Lions 82-68, while the Clarion Boys lost 77-72.

Clarion vs. Keystone

Boys

Brendan Zerfoss and Nathaniel Lerch each won two individual events. Zerfoss won the 100 (11.9) and the 200 (24.4), while Lerch won the 1600 (5:09) and the 3200 (11:14.2). Noah Schill was victorious in the 400 (57.8). Austin Hummell captured the 800 (2:14.2).

The Bobcats won the three relays, the 4×100 (50.5), 4×400 (4:03.2) and 4×800 (9:14.6).

Clarion had three winners in the field events. Gavin Brinkley won the high jump (5-4), Harrison Porter took the pole vault (9-6) and Clayton McElravy captured the shot put (36-8).

Girls

Laken Lewis captured four individual field events, winning the long jump (15-9), triple jump (31-9.25), high jump (4-8) pole vault (9-0).

On the track, Gabby Weaver captured both hurdles, the 100 hurdles (18.8) and 300 hurdles (56.9). Kyara Girvan won the 200 (29.7) and Phylicia Hockman was victorious in the 800 (2:39.6).

Girvan, Weaver, Hockman and Ali Troese combined to win the 4×400 (5:28.2).

Clarion vs. Clarion-Limestone

Girls

Laken Lewis again won four field events, winning the long jump (15-8.5), the triple jump (32-3), the high jump (5-0) and the pole vault (9-6). Kyara Girvan won the three sprints, 100 (13.5), 200 (28.9) and 400 (1:11.1), while joining Ali Troese, Gabby Weaver and Phylicia Hockman to win the 4×400 (5:01.9).

Hockman and Troese joined Grace Matson and Gabriella Fleming to capture the 4×800 (12:14.9).

Hockman was victorious in the 800 (2:50.6), with Weaver winning the 100 hurdles (18.9).

Boys

Brendan Zerfoss and Nathaniel Lerch both were victorious in the same events they won on Tuesday. Zerfoss won the 100 (10.7) and the 200 (22.7), while Lerch captured the 1600 (4:58) and the 3200 (11:48).

Austin Hummell won the 800 (2:12), Tom Hurst captured the pole vault and Clayton McElravy was victorious in the discus (101-4).

The Cats captured the three relays. Marshal Powers, Donnie Cunningham, Ethan Burford and Zerfoss won the 4×100. (46.2). Cunningham, Hummell, Powers and Zerfoss captured the 4×400 (3:49.2) and Lerch, Hummell, Daniel Ketner and Nick Schill were victorious in the 4×800 (9:47.0).

The Bobcats and Lady Cats will travel to Redbank Valley next Wednesday (April 15th).
