Softball Roundup: Lady Cats Go 3-0 On The Week (05/19/18)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats Softball Team went 3-0 this week, posting 12-2 (five innings) and 15-0 (four innings) wins over Forest Area, at Paul A. Weaver Park, on Monday (May 14th) and another win against homestanding Keystone, on Thursday (May 16th), 15-0 (four innings).

Clarion 12 – Forest Area 2 (five innings)

The first game against Forest Area was a completion of a suspended game from April 11th. Action was picked up in the fourth inning, with Clarion leading 7-1.

Clarion, the “visitor” for the game, scored two more in the fourth and three more in the fifth. Forest Area scored their other run in the fourth.

Maya Thornton had three hits, including two triples. She drove in a run and scored twice. Kaitlyn Constantino had a single and a triple, drove in two runs and scored twice. Alexis Constantino tripled, scored twice and had an RBI.

Tori Vega doubled and scored a run, while Sadie Rudesyle had a pair of hits, with an RBI and a run scored.

Kaitlyn Constantino went five innings in the circle, throwing a one hitter, while striking out ten.

Clarion 15 – Forest Area 0 (four innings)

Homestanding Clarion scored four in the first, one in the second, two each in the third and fourth and three in the fifth. The Fires scored one run in the first and one in the fourth.

The second game saw MacKenzie DiTullio with a triple and a single, three runs driven in and a pair of runs scored.

Alexis Constantino had a double and a single, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice. Thornton singled twice, scored twice and drove in three runs. Ava Kiser tripled and scored three times.

Kaitlyn Constantino had a pair of hits, scored twice and drove in a run.

Rudesyle had a single and a double and scored twice. She was the winning pitcher, giving up just one hit and registering eight strikeouts.

Also for Clarion, Alexis Constantino was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Ava Kiser was 1-for-2 with a triple and three runs scored and Thornton was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Kaitlyn Constantino added a 2-for-4 day with two runs scored and an RBI and Rudesyle was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Rudesyle got the win giving up an infield single to Lander while also walking four and striking out eight.

Lander took the loss allowing 15 runs, seven earned, on 16 hits and two walks.

Clarion 13 – Keystone 1 (five innings)

The Lady Cats scored ten runs in the second and three in the fifth. The Lady Panthers scored their run in the fifth inning.

Vega tripled, driving in three runs, for Clarion. Carly Best had three hits and scored twice. Kaitlyn Constantino had a pair of hits. Liz Saver and Alexis Constantino each had a pair of RBIs. Rudesyle doubled and drove in two.

Rudesyle and Kaitlyn Constantino combined for the win.
