Bobcats Fall To Lions In Regular Season Finale (10/27/18)

The Clarion Area Bobcat Football Team fell to the visiting Clarion-Limestone Lions 62-28 on Friday (October 26th), in the regular season finale for both teams. The game also marked Senior Night for the Bobcats.

The Lions scored a pair of touchdowns to open the contest. Austin Newcomb scored on a three yard run at 10:41, of the first quarter and Ayden Wiles ran the ball in from six yards out at 10:05. Newcomb ran for the two point conversion after the second touchdown, giving the Lions a 14-0 lead.

Sam Minich caught a twenty-seven yard touchdown pass from Archer Mills, with 7:05 left in the quarter, for the Cats. Mills kicked the extra point and the Cats trailed 14-7. Clarion would close the deficit to 14-13 on a fifty-four yard run by Logan Minich coupled with Mills’ kick at 9:52.

Newcomb scored on a fourteen yard run, at 7:05, and then scored on the two-point conversion, on a pass from Colby Himes, making the score 22-7, Lions.

The Cats would close the gap again, when Mills hit Sam Minich with a twenty-seven yard scoring strike at 2:50 of the first. The kick was good and C-L’s lead was 22-14.

Newcomb scored on a three yard run for the Lions, at 7:33 of the second and Ayden Wiles ran for the two-point conversion. Then Mills ran the ball in from the twelve and hit Logan Minich for the conversion for the Cats, at 2:09. Newcomb then caught a forty-two yard pass from Himes with 1:29 left in the half, giving the Lions a 36-22 halftime lead.

Sam Minich caught a thirty-two yard touchdown pass from Cal German at 7:36 of the third, cutting the Lions’ lead to 36-28.

The Lions would score four more times: Newcomb, on a forty-nine yard run at 6:36 of the third; Ayden Wiles on a twenty-one yard run at 2:00 of the third, with Newcomb running for the conversion; Newcomb on a fifteen yard run, at 9:42 in the fourth and a seventy-four yard run with nine minutes left in the contest.

Both teams will now enter the District Nine playoffs.
