Varsity Volleyball Team Sweeps Another Week (Oct. 1 – Oct. 5); JV Results Included (10/16/2018)

(By CSZ Sports Writer Kenn Staub)  Delayed a day owing to severe weather in the area, Clarion began the fifth week of the volleyball season on Wednesday, Oct. 3 with a short trip north to Cranberry. After dispatching the Berries in straight sets, the Bobcats returned home to sweep the Moniteau Warriors the next day (Oct. 4).

 

Wednesday, Oct. 3: Clarion 3 – Cranberry 0

Maddie Schill

Clarion took out host Cranberry in three sets, winning 25-18, 25-19, and 25-7. Junior Maddie Schill served for nine points (two aces), sophomore Brenna Campbell (two aces) and freshman Korrin Burns (two aces) chipped in eight, while junior KK Girvan (one ace) and freshman Jordan Best (two aces) each added seven. Burns led the attack at the net slamming 10 kills, with Schill putting away seven. Campbell assisted on 22 points.

Girvan came up with 16 digs for the Bobcats, with junior Kaitlyn Constantino and Burns coming up with seven apiece. Schill had the team’s only solo block.

Junior Varsity: The JV Bobcats started the evening by sweeping their Cranberry opponents, 25-21 and 25-16. Jordan Best served for a team high 10 points (two aces). Best and Payton Simko had four kills and Parker Boyden three. Noel Anthony assisted on 11 points. On defense Simko had five digs and a block. Boyden also recorded a block.

 

Thursday, Oct. 4: Clarion 3 – Moniteau 0

The Bobcats came out hot against the visiting Warriors, winning the first set 25-1. They won the next two sets 25-11 and 25-15 to complete the sweep.

Brenna Campbell had 24 points from the service line (six aces) and assisted on another 22 points. Kaitlyn Constantino smashed five kills, with Maddie Schill, Dorothy Kalinowski, Korrin Burns, and Hailey Sintobin registering four each. KK Girvan came up with five digs on defense.
