Basketball Round-up: Bobcats, Lady Cats Each Go 1-1 This Week (12-15-18)

The Clarion Area Boys and Girls Basketball Teams each were in action, in two games this week, with both going 1-1.

The Bobcats fell to homestanding Clarion-Limestone, 71-62 on Wednesday (December 12th) and then defeated visiting Venango Catholic 87-60, on Friday (December 14th). Both of the Lady Cats games were at home. They downed Clarion-Limestone 70-27 on Tuesday (December 11th) and and fell to St. Marys 54-42 on Thursday (December 13th).

Cal German and Josh Craig led the Cats, in the game against C-L, with both scoring 13 points; the both had three 3-pointers. Nick Frederick chipped in with 10 points.

Deon Deas led the Lions with twenty-two points.

The Lions led 16-11 after one, 36-20 at the half and 52-38 after three.

German pumped in 21 points, including three treys, against V-C and three other Cats hit in double figures. Frederick had 17, Craig scored 12 and Hunter Craddock followed with ten.

The Vikings’ Andrew Burda led all scorers with 25 points and Ben Gillispie had twenty-two.

The Bobcats led 21-13 after one, 48-25 at the half and 71-44 at the three-quarter mark.

The Lady Cats held leads of 13-5 after one, 35-13 at the half and 58-22 after three, in their game against Clarion-Limestone.

Kyara Girvan led all scorers with seventeen points, while Wendy Beveridge and Kaitlyn Constantino followed with thirteen apiece. Beveridge had a triple-double, as she also blocked 11 shots and pulled down ten rebounds. Ali Troese also had a good all-around game, scoring 12 points, gathering  steals and pulling down nine caroms.

St. Marys led 16-5 after one, 31-13 at the half and 47-25 after three in Thursday’s game.

Constantino scored 19 points for the Lady Cats, including three treys, to go along with 3 assists and six rebounds. Beveridge had 6 points, 6 blocked shots and four rebounds. 

The Bobcat Boys will travel to Cranberry next Tuesday (December 18th) and the Lady Cats will host the Lady Berries that same night.
