Basketball Roundup: Lady Cats 2-1, Bobcats 0-2 Last Week (01/14/19)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats Basketball Team went 2-1, while the Bobcat Boys lost two games last week.

Girls: Clarion fell to visiting Brookville 64-51 on Monday (January 7th).

The Lady Cats led 19-16 after one, but the Lady Raiders held a 35-28 lead at the half and a 53-36 lead after three.

Kait Constantino led all scorers with twenty-one points. She also had 5 rebounds and four assists. Wendy Beveridge had 15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and three blocked shots.

Lauren Hergert led Brookville with fourteen points.

The Lady Cats got back on the winning track with a 55-40 win, at home, over the Moniteau Lady Warriors, on Wednesday (January 9th).

Clarion led 14-4 after one, 25-12 at the half, and 3-28 after three.

Ali Troese had a big night, leading Clarion with 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Jordan Best and K. K. Girvan each chipped in with twelve points. Best nearly had a double-double, as she also had nine rebounds.

On Saturday (January 12th), the Lady Cats visited Keystone and came away with a 59-29 win.

Girvan led all scorers with 23 points. Constantino followed with twelve.

Lady Panther, Danae Hurrelbrink led her team with eight.

Boys: The Bobcats dropped a 53-36 decision to homestanding Moniteau on Thursday (January 12th).

Cal German led the Cats with 18 points.

Moniteau’s Ethan McDeavitt led all scorers with twenty.

The visiting Cats dropped a 62-28 decision to Keystone on Saturday (January 12th).

The Cats led 24-19 at the half, but Keystone held a 43-40 lead after three. It was all knotted up at 57-all at the end of regulation. But the Panthers outscored the Bobcats 5-1 in overtime, to secure the victory.

Bobcat, Nick Frederick led all scorers with 17 points. Josh Craig followed with ten.

For the Panthers, Issak Jones had sixteen.
