Sam Minich Named To 2018 Pennsylvania Football News Coaches Select All-State First Team (01/0/18)

Clarion Area Senior Sam Minich was named to the 2018 Pennsylvania Football News Coaches Select All-State Team, as the First Team Slot Back. This is the inaugural year for this All-State Team.

Sam had 503 rushing yards on 53 carries (9.5 yards per carry) and five touchdowns. He had 49 receptions for 775 yards (15.8 yards per catch) and 12 touchdowns. His 775 receiving yards places him second on the Bobcats’ All-Time Single Season Receiving Yardage List, behind only Cody Hearst.

Sam was also named to the first ever District Nine League All-Star Team, as a Running Back/Slot Back and Linebacker.

Sam, a student at North Clarion, which co-ops with Clarion Area, is the first ever player at North Clarion to be named All-State in Football. (Tom Wurster who was selected last season attended North Clarion in junior high before transferring to Clarion Area.)

2A: Brookville – Wide Receivers Brian Dworek(Second Team) and Cabe Park (Second Team); Moniteau – Offensive Guard James Parenti (First Team); Greenville – Athlete Brady Gentile (First Team)

4A: Clearfield Coach of the Year Tim Janocko; DuBois – Offensive Guard Chase Husted (First Team); Clearfield – Fullback Brett Zattoni (First Team), Slot Back Taye Lynch (First Team), Offensive Guard Quenton Bloom (First Team), Quarterback Isaac Rummery (Second Team), Wide Receiver Jake Lezzer (Second Team), Outside Linebacker Oliver Billotte (Second Team)

5A: Oil City Running Back Christian Cole (First Team), Center Mario Fonantazza (Second Team)
