Derek Smail And Colby Wright Headed To State Junior Wrestling Championships (03/12/19)

Congrats to Derek Smail, 2019 Area V Champion 12U 160 lbs. He will represent Clarion Area and Area V Wrestling this weekend (Saturday, March 16th and Sunday, March 17th) in Pittsburgh at the 2019 Youth State Wrestling Tournament (Peterson Event Center on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh). This is Derek’s fifth time qualifying for the tournament and fourth straight as Area V Champion.

Derek won the Area V Championship that was held in Clearfield on February 24th, having defeated Sam Ayers of Coudersport 6-4 in the finals. He is the son of David and Jami Smail of Shippenville and sixth grader at Clarion Area Elementary.

Congrats to Colby Wright, 2019 Area V Runner-Up 12U 145 lbs. This is Colby’s first time qualifying for the Youth State Tournament. He is the son of Curt and Stacy Wright of Clarion (Curlsville) and a seventh grader at Clarion Area High School.
