Softball Round-Up: Kait Constantino Has Big Week In The Circle To Lead Lady Cats To Two Victories (04/07/19)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats Softball Team, led by a pair of masterful performances, in the circle, by Kait Constantino, recorded road wins over Clarion-Limestone last Monday (April 1st) and Brookville on Wednesday (April 3rd).

The Lady Cats downed the Lions 9-1 and the Lady Blue Raiders 9-0, as the Clarion bats came alive also.

Constantino recorded twelve strikeouts, allowing five hits and only one earned run, in the Lady Cats 9-1 win over the Lady Lions. She followed that by throwing her first no-hitter against the Lady Raiders, tossing a career high, sixteen strikeouts. Constantino totaled twenty-eight strikeouts, while allowing only one earned run during the week. She and her teammates registered thirteen scoreless innings, on defense.

As can be seen by the eighteen runs total, recorded by Clarion, for both games, the Lady Cat bats put on a show also.

Clarion had thirteen hits against C-L. They scored one run in the first, one in the second, three in the third and another one in the fourth, as they opened up a 6-0 lead. The Lions answered with one run in the fifth. Neither team scored in the sixth inning, but the Bobcats finished with three more runs in the seventh.

Payton Simko had a triple and a double, driving in three runs. She also scored a run. Constantino had four hits, including a double and a triple. She scored two runs. Carly Best had a pair of hits, while driving in a run and scoring once.

Tori Vega doubled and also scored two runs. Ava Kiser recorded two hits and an RBI. Lindsey Kemmer had a hit, scored two runs and drove in a run. Jordan Best singled, drove in a run and scored a run, and Brenna Campbell had an RBI.

The Lady Cats had eight hits in Wednesday’s game against the Raiders.

Constantino had a triple and scored two runs. Jordan Best had a pair of hits, including a double and drove in two runs. Carly Best ha two singles. She drove in a run and scored twice. Campbell had two hits and scored twice, Vega singled and scored a run.

Kemmer, Kiser and Mackenzie Aaron each drove in a run.

The Lady Cats will host Moniteau, at Weaver Park, on Monday (April 8th), at 4:30PM.
