Softball Roundup: Lady Cats Drop Two One Run Games, Bounce Back With Big Win (04/12/19)

The Lady Cats had three games this week. On Monday (April 8th), they dropped a one run, 4-3 decision to visiting Moniteau and fell again by one run, 3-2, at Cranberry, on Wednesday (April 10th). Clarion bounced back with a big 15-0, four inning win over Brockway, at home.

In Monday’s game, the Lady Cats opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first. The Lady Warriors scored two in the second. Clarion scored another run in the second for a 3-2 lead.

Neither team would score in the next three inning. Then Moniteau put two runs across in the top of the seventh. The Cats failed to answer in the bottom of the inning, giving the Warriors the 4-3 win.

Jordan Best had a single and two RBIs. Brenna Campbell singled, drove in a run and scored a run. Kait Constantino and Carly Best each singled and scored a run.

Constantino threw eleven strikeouts.

Wednesday’s game with the Lady Berries saw neither team scoring through the first five innings. The Lady Cats scored twice in the top of the sixth. The Berries scored one in the bottom of the inning and two more in the seventh to earn the win.

Tori Vega led Clarion with a double, driving in both runs. Lindsey Kemmer singled and scored a run. Carly Best, Campbell and Ava Kiser each singled, while Jordan Best scored a run.

Constantino threw eight strikeouts for the Cats.

The Lady Cat’s bats came alive against Brockway, with fifteen hits and fifteen runs in four innings.

Clarion plated six runs in the first, eight in the second and one more in the fourth.

Jordan Best had three hits, including a triple. She drove in three runs and scored twice. Campbell had three singles, driving in two runs and scoring twice.

Noel Anthony had a pair of hits, with an RBI and a run scored. Payton Simko singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Carly Best had a pair of singles and scored three times. Constantino had two hits, with an RBI and a run scored.

Kiser had a pair of singles and scored a run. Tori Vega scored twice and Kemmer also scored a run.

Constantino gave up one hit, while striking out six, in two innings of work in the circle.

The Lady Cats will host Clarion-Limestone, on Monday (April 15th).
