Number Of Graduated Bobcat Gridders To Take Part In Frank Varischetti All-Star Game On Friday (06/27/19)

Five recently graduated Clarion Bobcat gridders: Archer Mills, Camden Boggess, Sam Minich, Logan Minich and Nick Porciello are scheduled participate in the 4th annual Frank Varischetti All-Star Game at Frank Varischetti Field in Brockway tomorrow night, Friday, June 28th. The field is on 7th Avenue, on the left, just after you cross the bridge heading North on Main Street.

The quintet will be members of the team made up of former Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference (KSAC). They will team up against players from the old Allegheny Mountain League (AML). The conferences disbanded after the 2017 season and joined to form the new District Nine League.

Joining the Clarion players on the KSAC Team are players from Clarion-Limestone, Redbank Valley, Union/A-C Valley, Brookville, Karns City, Moniteau, Punxsutawney and St Marys.

The head coach for the KSAC Team is Dave Eggleton, who was the Clarion-Limestone’s coach last year and is now a member of the Clarion Area staff, with the new merger, where C-L joins Clarion and North Clarion.

From the press release: “The Frank Varischetti Foundation, with support from the Brockway Gridiron Association and the Brockway Area School District, is hosting the event. In addition to showcasing the best football talent in District 9, $1,000 scholarships will be awarded by Game Sponsors to several players at halftime.”

Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. The Varischetti game coincides with Brockway’s annual Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration.

Make it a point to come out and cheer on the Bobcat players and their KSAC teammates.
