On Saturday, August 31st, three Clarion River Valley Strikers U13 teams hosted Mercer, Kinzua and two DuBois U13 teams for a night of soccer, under the massive cluster of field lights, at the newly updated Clarion County Park.

The first and second place teams received trophies, furnished by All American Awards and Engraving, in Shippenville. The event is an annual primer for the upcoming fall soccer season for the Strikers to compete in the District 7, the Lake Division, of the highly competitive PA West Soccer league.

Thanks to the support of the commissioners, this annual event helps to showcase the Clarion area by inviting the outside teams to see the one thing that separates Clarion from other soccer locales, field lights. In addition, the newly added ADA bathrooms and concession stand with landscaping, that was built across from the soccer fields, brought a whole new dimension to the park that, not only will benefit Strikers and YMCA soccer, but also the Bobcats baseball team and Pavilion renters.

The lights are so bright that those that cross I-80 from both directions say it looks like a small city off of Exit 60. The Strikers resume their fall season Sunday September 8th with a U15 team, 2 U13 teams, 2 U11 teams and Strikers Developmental Teams.
