Lions Boys Soccer Team Downs Panthers (09/15/19)

The Clarion-Limestone Lions Boys Soccer Team hosted the traveling Keystone Panthers Thursday, September 12th. In the battle of cats, the Lions were the first to score with a throw in from Beau Verdill (14) to BaileeVerdill (10) who was able to get it past the Keystone goalie.

The Lions second goal was off the foot of Beau Verdill, after Paul Leonhardt crossed the ball to him. The Verdill brothers hooked up again for the third goal of the game….Bailee scored off Beau’s corner kick.

Goal number four was by Bailee off of a rebounded Beau shot that Panthers’ goalie Chance Buzard saved. Paul Leonhardt was the next Lion to score. Tyler Bingham had the next goal to give the Lions a 6 goal lead.

Keystone’s Kobe Buzard was able to get one past goalie Reese Geiger, off a beautiful corner kick with 10 seconds left in the half.

Tyler Bingham replaced Geiger in goal for the second half.

Keystone’s Buzard scored Keystone’s final goal of the game right off the bat.

The Lions’ defense remained strong in the second half, with Austin Coull, Ryker Bingham, NicholasSchweitzer, Charlie Franchino, Ben Murtha, Cole Whitling, Peyton Smith and Brock Smith holding the back line.

The next pair of goals from the Lions were scored by Nate Megnin with Beau Verdill having the assists. Megnin returned the favor to Verdill with an assist of his own.

The final goal was scored by defenseman Charlie Franchino for a final score of Lions 10 Panthers 2.

The Lions actually had a “student fan section” to add to the excitement of the game!

The Lions meet up with West Shamokin Saturday, September 14 at 11:00 at home.
