Bobcat Junior High Gridders Down Warriors (10/04/19)

(By Coach Todd Matthews)

The Clarion Area Bobcat Junior High Football Team improved to 3-2, with a big 43-6 win over the homestanding Moniteau Warriors. The Bobcats offense was firing on all cylinders as they ran for 291 yards and passed for 159 for a total of 450 yards of offense.  The Bobcats had three quarterbacks see the field. Tommy Smith had 2 completions on 4 attempts for 96 yards and threw a touchdown pass and had three two-point conversions.  Dawson Hotchkiss went 2 for 2 for 30 yards.  Jase Ferguson went 2 for 2 for 33 yards and threw a touchdown pass.  Gabe Simko caught and ran in for a touchdown on a 64 yard pass play.

The top rushers this week were: Conner Kopnitsky 1 for 80, Dawson Smail 2 for 77, and Noah Naser 2 for 70.  Chris Anthony, Conner Kopnitsky, Noah Naser, Dawson Smail and Ryan Hummell all had touchdowns.  The Bobcat offensive line (Jacob Latuhihin, Ethan Wenner, Holden Sparks, Tyler Klugh, and Owen Bauer) deserves a lot of the credit. They opened up holes on run plays and gave the quarterbacks time to throw on pass plays.

On Defense the Bobcats were solid.  Chris Anthony and Dauntae Girvan led the defense with 13 tackles each. Dawson Smail had 11 and Dawson Hotchkiss added seven.  The Bobcats have a bye week, then travel to Karns City on the 17th.
